Operation 365 2... Blog 248

Operation 365 2 - Jefferson Jay - Originals - 248 “Six”

“Six” is my lucky number. Not really, but that’s the first line of this tune. It just jumped into my head a couple of years back. My new fiancee and I were about to leave the house to spend the night the casino/hotel, a special occasion. I stopped and penned “Six” first. Later, we stood near a Roulette table. Leanne put dough on six and she got paid.

Here, years later, my fiancée is my wife for two years. We got together six years ago today. Another anniversary. A few months after we got together, we got a pup, Nigel. He was about four months old and if we take that back, that made him born just about today, six years ago, the same day Leanne and I got together. So we made that his birthday. Pretty neat.

Six years. Amazing. Hope you dig this “Six” jam. Happy Sunday.

Double feature with "Ground Reprise"

Operation 365 2 - Jefferson Jay - BONUS - 248 "Crazy for You” by Madonna

Madonna’s songs back in the day were pretty neat. I have no idea what her songs sound like now. I don’t know what almost anybody’s songs sound like actually. So it’s nothing against Madonna. Think she considered Happydonna as a cheery alter ego. I doubt it. It’s never too late to reinvent yourself. Lord knows she knows that.

Back in the day, Madonna was busting out one sexy video after another and getting the young fellas on the world, like myself into a veritable tizzy. Those times were good, or at least, that’s how it feels in retrospect. Memory is funny in that way. Who knows what really happened?

Well, I vaguely recall Madonna in a dark room in a tasteful blue dress, singing this sweet love song. I guess “Crazy For You” is a sexy song, but Madonna, in her day mastered the many faces of sexy.

Happy six-year dating anniversary to my dear wife, Leanne aka, Leannta Claus, the gift that keeps on giving. Happy sixth birthday to our boy, Nigel. I’m “Crazy for You,” behbeh.

Operation 365 2 - Jefferson Jay - Words - 248 "The ‘Itis"

We all have on ‘itis or another from time to time. It could be colitis, appendicitis, or arthritis. Hopefully, not meningitis. There are all other kinds of ‘Itises than can affect us throughout the course of our daily lives. Long ago, as I began my undergraduate life, a close friend who went on to be famous human, Conor Grennan, told me of this band he’d see as an undergrad at UVA. It was The Dave Mathews Band. It was startling to watch them become world famous virtually seconds later. That’s Conor for you. I’d love to read his autobiography. He’s probably writing it now.

Anyway, all these years later, his favorite band in college is soon making it’s presence felt. Now, I’m not here to talk smack on any musical humans, especially not on any as talented as the aforementioned DMB. That being said, I’ve managed to miss all their concerts these last 20 years. Fear not, my neighbor has cranked constantly. I hear them lots. I gave him a couple of Jefferson Jay CDs and he cranks them from time to time. They usually sound better than I remember, so that is nice.

Dave is fine. I wish him the best. But sometimes, my neighbor has his ‘Itis. Dave Mathews Band-itis. And that’s contagious. And sometimes. Especially when I go outside, it gets on me. All things considered, as far as ‘Itises go, it’s relatively innocuous. But there is no vaccine. And there is no cure. Whoa, Lovecats.

My wife adds, “itis” means inflammation. Sounds about right. Thank you, honey. Happy six years. Love.

Operation 365 2 - Jefferson Jay - Covers - 248 “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift

I just realized as I was about to post it, that I did “Crazy for You” 17 days ago. Doh! I better get crafty here quick...

And off he went, deep into the annals, in search of… Another cover tune…

I found a couple. Hooray prepared!

I heard a rumor Taylor wasn’t too keen on folks covering her jams. Hopefully, that was groundless speculation and she’ll be stoked or indifferent. That Prince fella made me take down my “Cream” vid five years back and that’s not a circumstance I’m looking replicate. Dig? Without my beloved wife, I may not know nay Taylor Swift songs at all. Because of her I know one. This one.
