Operation 365 - Jefferson Jay - Archives - 179 The Greens of Mind "The Greens of Mind" - 6-8-2009

Today's song from The Greens of Mind's June 8, 2009 show at The Athenaeum Music and Arts Library in La Jolla, CA is "The Greens of Mind." We liked the song so much we named the band after it. Destructo Bunny suggested we do and we did. "The Greens of Mind" song is about how the changes you want to see in the world begin with yourself. The Greens of Mind feature myself on guitar, Barbara Tolbert on vocals, Charlotte James on violin and guitar and Justin Mills on cello.

Justin Mills and I wrote this tune. I remember it vividly, though it this point it was more than couple years ago, We were hanging out and we decided to write a song. He said let's make it D sharp. I said, OK, and then proceded to accidentally make the song in C sharp. I wrote most of it for there, but it was definitely a collaboration. Without us sitting down and sating let's write a song, there would be no song. Steve Laub and Dave Foster of Laubster Video filmed and produced this for us. Mike Keneally and Billy Bushwalla also played at this show. Maybe when I'm done sharing all this Greens stuff, I'll try to find a way to put a clip of two from their sets in here as well. Thank you Steve.

Operation 365 - Jefferson Jay - Covers - 179 "Waiting In Vain" by Bob Marley
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBz_q2ogv1o

"Waiting in Vain" is universal and beautiful. It has so many application sin this world right now. Rapture, anyone? We are all waiting for something. We never know when it is going to come. Sometimes we don't even know what it is. And sometimes, it will never come and we're better off that way. There is so much unknown. Mostly unknown, it seems. Except that rapture rumor. That that was false, was known. Well, I guess not by everyone. Sad.

In other news, I'd been craving some Major 7th chords and "Waiting in Vain" hit the spot. I admire Bob Marley so much. Artistically, I want to be just like him. Make an impact. Help people think things in a more positive and uplifting way. Advocate for peace. Help people get along better in the world. Leave something behind when I'm gone. Lead by example. Be eclectic. Speak freely. Put on an entertaining show. OK, busy day. Gotta go.

Dylan Avery appears on background conversation following a pocket dial of yours truly. His meter is currently at 23:28 and counting. Chat on, Oh Dyllie one.

Operation 365 - Jefferson Jay - Originals - 179 "The Raspy Voice Blues"

All that remains of my ailment this past week or two is this raspy voice and occasional cough. All things considered, that's not so bad. Limits the singing ability a bit though. That's not going to stop me from having a nice band practice here in a few on a Sunday afternoon. Well, gotta go sing. Dig the blues thing. Kisses.
