Operation 365... Blog 238

Operation 365 - Jefferson Jay - Archives - 244 Alicia Lockett "Gemini" 7-28-2009

I went looking for something to post that happened around this time in July. This was two years ago, July 28, 2009. Here is Alicia Lockett, singing her song "Gemini." Alicia, I used to see at the Open Mics at Twiggs back in the day. A whole scene of San Diego that debuted back in those days still lingers around this ocean town. Will Edwards just had a birthday yesterday. He and I came around back then, the early 2000's. Happy birthday Will. Jason Mraz came through that scene like a comet around that time as well. Many others.

Alicia reappeared years later at my Open Mic at this time in 2009. It was nice to see her again. Alicia has a uniquely delicate presence and always carries herself with class and grace. I hope our paths across again some time in the future.

Operation 365 - Jefferson Jay - Covers - 244 "Walk on the Wild Side" - Lou Reed

What an interesting Lou Reed song. Irresistibly catchy. Overwhelmingly politically incorrect. Redundant rhyme scheme and vulgar visuals, both found in the line,

"But she never lost her head
Even when she was givin' head."

Then there's the catchy oohs and ahhs and the line about "the colored girls"... Lou Reed made it all work, somehow. It's a special type of fame you get for making a point, in one way or another; Saying what you have to say and leaving an impression being yourself. Making people think. Affecting things.

Operation 365 - Jefferson Jay - Originals - 244 "Who's Gay?"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I2_mjWCS0s

This is a little jingle I conceived years ago. Seems people have bit of an infatuation with who is or isn't gay. Who's Gay?" is a bouncy melody and the musical impersonification of that type of thinking.
